BIOGRAPHY

Name: Lakshmi Muthupalaniyappan

Date of Birth: 30th March 1966

Past Exhibitions: Voices of Nature - Alliance Francaise, 8th February 2011

I am a homemaker with three children. My life as an artist began 10 years ago.

Being self taught, most of what I learned came from reading, traveling and experimenting with the use of different mediums and substances. Being persistent in honing my skills was an extra bonus.

Although I had no formal training in art, I learned batik, printing, woodworking, copper tooling and mosaics . My subjects are usually very varied, but generally, I paint landscapes and nature.

Some of my paintings feature Indian motifs, as the Indian culture shows through in some of my ideas. The most unique feature in all my works is the intense colour that shows through and through. I mostly work with acrylics.

In 2010, as part of brushing up my abilities, I came under the mentorship of Jeganathan Ramachandran. My first exhibition was at the Alliance Francaise, in February of 2011.

My greatest inspiration in Vincent van Gogh, and coincidentally, we both share the same birthday!

A great deal of support comes from my loving husband and three children who have helped me continue what I love doing for a great part of my life.

When I paint, it's as if I am transported to another world; total peace and silence, almost a meditative state.

Over time, I hope gain more experience, and bring joy to art lovers all over the world! So please, enjoy!
